Sunday Brunch and Couch Shopping

For those of you who have some non-sporty husbands, let me fill you in. When one marries a sports fanatic, they become a widow--a football widow all fall! Most weekends, I spend cleaning, working out and shopping since I can't pull him away from the TV. Sunday was a different story, I actually got to spend time with B! After church, we went for brunch at Le Peep. B didn't want to go there at first because he thought it "sounded fruity". He lost the battle.

I ordered a yummy Cinnamon Roll Latte. One of the best lattes I've ever consumed! (Because I'm an addict, drugs on the side please.)

For my meal, I ordered the pumpkin stuffed french toast. It was even better this morning for leftover breakfast!

Brian got the Cinnamonster (and other food but I didn't capture it)...he's giving his monster look too!
After brunch we went to the only furniture store in Nebraska-- Nebraska Furniture Mart. FYI, this place makes all other furniture places go out of business because it's so big. We've had our current couch for a hefty 3 years and it's complete crap, and looks like crap too. Brian, with his geriatric ways, wants a recliner. I simply hate the look of recliners--so old fashioned. I want leather since it seems to last forever. So we're looking at leather recliner couches.

Christmas Decor

Christmas Candle Centerpiece

I like to build my Christmas decorations a little bit every year. While shopping at The Limited this weekend, I stumbled across this wonderful candle and thought it had so much potential, not to mention a decadent scent! The way it was displayed in the store was just so elegant, like something in a model home aimed at affluent home buyers. A simple candle floating on a bed of sand in a giant contemporary, straight-walled hurricane.

After purchasing the candle, the hunt for a very similar look for my own candle centerpiece was in full force! The search was called off only after losing my patience with other holiday shoppers impatient attitudes or laggard pace maneuvering through the parking lot...how do they always seem to be right in front of me.

I settled on this pedestal hurricane at Wal-Mart (**suggestion: avoid this place like the plague until January 15th if you are uncomfortable with putting a hot poker in your eye in public because it will be hard to resist). I originally had my stylish heart set on a round simple hurricane similar to this but without a pedestal like the one in The Limited. We'll see how long I keep this.

I thought I'd share some photos of the centerpiece. My ribbon is too small and that will be changed when I can locate my holiday ribbon (I'm thinking I have some argyle somewhere...)


Isn't my plaid Mac cute!! I bought a "skin" for it and also have a cover on it, FYI. It's sooo cute and it's new and I love it.

A few months back I visited a beautiful designer show house her in the metro and thought it was too good not to share. Each room was designed by a different interior design firm so the house has several different elements in it.

Dream Bedrooms

So I've become quite obsessed with finding a new look for our master bedroom, I just don't know what I want. Since I have a cherry french style bedroom set, I can't go too contemporary. I've also come to realize that I'm totally obsessed with Rate my Space on hgtv.com. So I've picked out a couple of my favorites.

This one I really like but I don't know if I can pull it off with my furniture.



I absolutely love toile, but I have toile in my french kitchen so I thought it'd be overkill. My kitchen walls are also a soft sage green color called Herbivore.
