So Much to Do!

I just had to come down with some sort of cold didn't I? I ended up calling in to work on Black Friday! Even more of a bummer was I didn't get to go shopping at all. I still haven't left the house (well only to go through the drive-through for food tonight). I've been at home in my "jammies" (it's what my dad always refers to them as). I feel I'm starting to get over this cold thing but I've got to get cleaning my house! I have this constant obsession with cleaning. I feel like there's always something hanging over my head unless the house is immaculate. So with only one day of my weekend not totally consumed by my bad cold I've got quite the "To Do" list.

- clean up the kitchen
- dust and vacuum
- wash bed sheets
- iron
- clean bathrooms
- laundry
- order our Christmas cards and finalize our list (I'll post about that later)

**If I'm ambitious enough, I'll clean up my craft area downstairs in the basement, but I'm no Katie (God love that ambitious girl!!)

Chicken Salad Sandwich

I just love chicken salad sandwiches. They are usually just so yummy and fast. While I was home for lunch I concocted this blend. It's not super scientific but yummy.

two pieces of seven grain bread, toasted
shredded chicken breast
1 Tbsp of mayo (more or less based on how wet or dry you like your dish)
dash garlic powder
dash old bay seasoning
dash salt
dash of pepper
pinch of Italian seasoning
green leaf lettuce

mix everything but the bread, lettuce and mustard together and spread on bread. Top with lettuce and spread mustard on other slice and enjoy.

**Note: the seasonings really bloom after sitting in the fridge for a day so be cautious not to over do it if you're not planning on eating it all in one setting.

Craft Fair Haul!

I am a huge arts and crafts fan. Perhaps it's in my blood, but I truly believe it's a conditioned love. As far back as I can remember, my mom and I frequented arts and craft fairs searching for that special handmade, one of a kind beauty. For me, it's a goal to only purchase items that are one of a kind. It's an incredible feeling when you get the opportunity to meet the artist who designed the particular item.

Living in Nebraska has put quite a damper on my craft outing since my mom and I live SO far apart, but my good friend Kristen rose to the occasion. She just happen to score some free tickets to the Autumn Arts and Crafts Festival!

I have never heard of the infamous beer bread until now when Kristen expressed excitingly upon arriving to the special booth, "Oooh beer bread!!" I replied "What is beer bread?". After taking one simple bite of this yummy fluff, I was hooked! So needless to say I picked up a package. See their website.

My hair isn't as long as it used to be but I do love updos and cute but not junky barettes. I came across this vendor selling these adorable hair fasteners that couldn't be cuter.

I also came across this great little booth selling instant coffee. I chose to purchase their cinnamon chocolate! Super yummy!

I also picked up a couple of nice Christmas ornaments and a soup packet that I didn't have time to take a shot of and I figured it's about time I post!

Haunted House

I know this is a little late but I couldn't help but share. Last weekend we visited a local haunted house that is said to be really haunted. According to PRISMS (acronym for Paranormal Research Investigative Studies Midwest) the old home really is haunted. During my tour however, I didn't see anything suspicious.

The fun part happened after the haunted house. There is this cute barn (where all photos were taken) that sold funnel cakes and fried strawberries--yes fried strawberries! It was the ultimate in decadence. They were so good I forgot to take a picture. I did however manage to squeeze some shots of the barn with my hubby and my dear friend Kristen and her husband. She and I have been friends from way back into the days reporting for CBS in Lincoln.

Don't you just love that American flag in the background? Ahhhh.
