Gift for the Boss

Traditionally all the managers go in together and purchase one large gift for the owner of the dealership where we work. He's a wealthy man who has everything imaginable, so what kind of gift can a group of managers get for their boss? I called his wife and she's very modest and says we shouldn't do anything expensive. In years past, we've purchased restaurant gift cards and wine. He's always grateful but since I'm in charge of it again this year, I'm making an effort to think out of the box.

If anyone has any suggestions, please forward them over to me! Thanks.

If he really has everything how about a donation made to a charity?
Everyone benefits. I read an article that said with the state of the economy right now charities are more in need of help than ever before.

I guess it depends on how much you can want to spend... and does he have any hobbies... Our boss was a drinker and a fisherman... He always loved either as a gift... We did up a huge gift basket with snacks, drinks, glasses and assorted little doodads in it... One time Mexican... then a European flair... Gift baskets are fun and you can use your imagination you make it exciting...

Risa I sure don't envy your position on being the gift buyer. That's a hard thing to do. Does he drink coffee? I like Donna's idea with the gift basket, maybe some special coffee (if he drinks it) and a cute coffee mug. Some homemade desserts from a bakery to go with the coffee.
And since you are in the mid west where it gets cold, maybe a nice pair of leather gloves or something to keep him warm. I guess it depends on how much you have to spend.
Good luck....

If he likes wine and your community has a fundraising wine tasting, how about two tickets to that?

Or if he and his wife like a certain entertainer, check and see if they are coming to your area and get tickets to that.

A weekend at a bed and breakfast, donation to charity, or if he's a wine drinker, you get him an expensive bottle of wine (Stag's Leap Cask 23).
